What can I Expect During the Cogent Post Trauma Physiotherapy Program?
Traumatic injuries cases are complicated, cover multiple systems and very unique to each individual. At Cogent, we have created assessment procedures that capture the full scope of your condition and accurately categorize the root cause of your symptoms.
The physiotherapist will conduct a detailed assessment to understand the extent of your injury, the specific problems you are presenting with and how they impact the your mobility and function. Based on the assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be developed with you. This plan may include various therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, modalities to address pain, stiffness, weakness, range of motion, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and proprioception and loss of function. Your physiotherapist will also provide education on your condition, doctor's order and exercises to do at home to supplement the clinic-based treatments.
Your physiotherapist will complete regular reassessments to allow monitoring of your progress and adjustment of the treatment program as needed. In addition, they will provide support and referral to appropriate sources to help you cope with the emotional and psychological aspects of post trauma recovery such as low mood, fear of movement, lack of motivation and persistent pain.
